February 11, 2012
On Saturday February 11th at the Doubletree hotel in Ontario. We received 4 new members into the Cardinal McIntyre Assembly, they are SK Louis D' Espisito, SK Michael Hasz, SK Ramon Mosqueda and SK Orlando Villalon,.
It was as a little unusual for us this year as we normally don’t attend exemplifications other than the one in Irvine. But since we had 4 new candidates who wanted to join our assembly; we didn’t want to disappoint or keep them waiting until October.
Unfortunately because of the short notice and small number of candidates, we were not able to provide a hospitality suite. That however did not turn out to be a problem as our Brother Knights from other assemblies welcomed us with open arms.
Our Faithful Comptroller welcomed our candidates at the registration table where they were given their social baldric and 4th degree pin. The candidates then assembled in one of the salons where the Marshalls then proceeded to give the candidates their orientation. The candidates were lined up and assembled in preparation for the exemplification ceremony.
The “Spirit of America” class had 195 candidates take the exemplification of the 4th degree. In this class were several members of the military and 6 members of the clergy.
Following the exemplification the salons were readied for mass, and later that evening a small cocktail social was provided where we enjoyed a few drinks and socializing before the start of the banquet dinner.
Our honoree for the evening was SK Joseph P Shultz the Eighty-Seventh Ca. State Deputy. This was also our Worth Master Larry Campitiello’s last exemplification class. After four years our Worth Master is retiring. To show our appreciation for his years of service; Our Worth Master was presented with a flag which flew over the Washington Capital back in November of 2011.
After dinner and all the speeches it was time for the award presentations. The winners were the Msgr E.J. Flannagan assembly #59 for winning the morning Color Corp drill team competition, the Van Garsee assembly #2664 for most new members with 169% over goal and the Padre Pio assembly #2247 with the most new candidates at 27 members.
